I. Mission Analysis & Rulebook Deep Dive The first step of our journey was an intensive review of the SUAS 2026 Competition Handbook. We analyzed the technical requirements of the "Storm Response" mission, with a specific focus on: Autonomous Flight Boundaries (Section 3.0.4): Mapping the GPS coordinates to define our internal safety parameters. Payload Delivery Requirements: Evaluating the precision needed for the search, detect, and deliver tasks. Safety & Compliance: Establishing a "Safety First" culture within the team to mitigate operational risks. II. The Birth of METE: Conceptual Design This week, the blueprint of METE began to take shape. Our vision is to create a multi-role tactical platform that pushes the boundaries of current UAV literature. Patented Innovations: We initiated the design phase for our unique Patented Landing Skid System, optimized for diverse terrain operations. Advanced Features: We discussed the integration of the 65-70 kHz ultrasonic bird-avoidance module and the radar-absorbent composite structure. 3D Engineering: As one of Turkey's first 3D-printed UAV examples, we evaluated different filament types and infill patterns for structural integrity. III. Team Dynamics & Role Assignment To ensure a streamlined workflow at Merkez Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi, we finalized our departmental roles: Command & Liaison: Ahmet Emirhan Türkmen (Captain) established the project timeline. Avionics & Software: Nuri Kağan Varinli and Berat Kayur started the environment setup for Mission Planner and Pixhawk firmware. Airframe & Integration: Nurefşan Özyurt, Tuba Üstünel, and Ahmet Talha Saylan began material stress tests. Documentation: Mehmet Erkara and Elif Azra Şarlı initiated the structure for the Technical Design Report (TDR). IV. Looking Ahead With the mission clearly defined and roles assigned, we move into Week 2 with a focus on Aerodynamic Analysis and Initial CAD Modeling. Our goal is to transform these concepts into a flight-ready reality.
