Powertrain Part 2: High-Current Management, Joule Heating & Ram-Air Cooling

Back to All Logs

Initial full-throttle static bench tests revealed critical Joule heating (P = I^2.R) exceeding 100 degree C on 12 AWG lines. Wiring was upgraded to 10 AWG silicone wires and 5.0 mm gold connectors. An aluminum heat-sink was mounted directly to the Flycolor 120A ESC, supported by under-fuselage ram-air cooling scoops to maintain operating temperatures within safe limits.
